Hello StampTV Friends,
I know many of you were expecting a new video today, however, will not be posting a new one this week.
I know many of you were expecting a new video today, however, will not be posting a new one this week.
Here is why.
My daughter Rina qualified for a big swim meet in Minneapolis that was held last weekend. She was very excited about it. She was scheduled to swim 8 events and was seeded very high in all of them. (She was one of the top eight fastest kids in her age group in most of the events and was really trying to get a high point award.)
(Rina and Teddi)
Friday night, she had a FABULOUS night! She took second place in the 400 IM and the 1000 Free. Those are long, hard events that require lots of endurance and she really did great! She swam two new personal records and two new team records.
(Rina, making the timers and officials laugh when they announced her name at finals. She's so relaxed up there. And what a ham!)
Saturday morning, she was SO excited to swim. Her first event was the 200 backstroke. She took 4th place in prelims and had a chance of swimmer to a higher spot in finals that night. After prelims were over, we had a few hours for lunch, an ice bath and a nap. Thank goodness I didn't have to do the ice bath part! ;) We went out for lunch and Tom and Rina split some pasta and a salad.
We went back to finals that evening and, although Rina did swim a new best time, she dropped down to 5th place. She had two "not so Rina" swims after that and then went to the locker room to change. She never came up. We waited and waited and finally I texted her because they were closing the pool. She texted back that she was laying down because she felt like she was going to pass out.
(Rina's two second place medals and a fifth place medal)
When she finally came up, we headed back to the hotel for the team dinner. She didn't eat a thing and said she needed to go to bed. Again, not like Rina. She LOVES the social part of the team. I gave her the hotel room key and shortly after she left- she texted me that she got sick.
Not too long after that, the same things happened to Tom. We determined that they both got food poisoning from the meal they shared. (I have the worst immune system in the family with my diabetes and I still feel GREAT! It had to be the food.) The timing was perfect for food poisoning and they shared a meal. Tom had food poisoning in the past. He said it was exactly the same. Plus, they didn't have any other flu-like symptoms.
Today, they are both still in bed. The only time they left the bed was to get into the car to come home on Monday afternoon and then got back in their own beds at home. A sad ending to a great swim meet but there will be so many more.
Needless to say, my "tech guy" is totally out of commission and will not be working all of the magic dials this week to provide you with a new video. Instead, we welcome you to watch some of our past videos and we will be back next week with new videos for your viewing and learning pleasure.
We are so very sorry for the delay, however, we have learned that sometimes life forces you to take a little break whether you want to or not.
We appreciate you all and we know you understand. But we wanted to share the story with you since you count on us to be there each week with something fun and new AND you are like family to us.
So stay healthy and safe and make it a great week.
We may even run a little special! Stay tuned tomorrow....
Hugs,
Gina K.

No worries on the video Gina. Family always comes first and they need to get well. So sorry to hear about the food poisoning. Congrats to Rina on her accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your daughter was so very disappointed but wishing Rina and Tom the speediest of recoveries.
ReplyDeleteGina......that is horrible! I'm so sorry! Blessing and healing thoughts coming to you, Rina and Tom!
ReplyDeleteThe last thing anyone should be worried about is a video this week. Take care of your loved ones Gina and I am praying that they feel well soon. Congratulations to Rina!! What an amazing accomplishment for her. Hugs to you all :)

ReplyDeleteGina, I pray that Rina and Tom are getting better and stronger every moment. Bless all of you......so sad that they had to go through all of this.......healing prayers for you and family...
ReplyDeleteI hope Tom and Rina are feeling better very soon! Big hugs to you all!
ReplyDeleteI just have to tell you that I love hearing about Rina's swimming. I was a AAU swimmer for six years and also with my high school team(s). It brings back so many memories! When I was a junior and was peaking for the State Tournament here in Florida, I came down with a nasty bout of strep throat. Only managed to finish 10th in the 100 Free but that was ok by me! I went on to set a few records in my Senior year.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on their recovery from FP. Been there, done that too ("with" my diabetes)....no fun! Hugs!
I am so sorry for your Rina and your Tom!! What a disappointing end to her special competitions. But, she did set some new records, plus a couple of personal bests, so that is wonderful. Family is more important. We will enjoy them just as much when you get something posted. I am glad to hear it wasn't this awful flu we seem to have circulating around here. I have been out of commission for over a week, hubby too. Am getting better, but it is taking a looong time. God Bless. Hope they will be feeling better soon. Stressful when your loved one are ill.
ReplyDeleteRenie in MN.
We'd rather your family be happy & healthy than have a video, the next video will be extra special then! Can't wait for the next release, those are always so fun!
